What to check before buying a German car for Spain: original documents, export arrangements, transport and the next registration steps.

Request Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I and Teil II, an invoice or contract with the VIN and available technical documents. Send readable copies to your registration adviser before committing; agree how originals will be handed over.
Decide how it leaves Germany
If driving, ask the responsible Zulassungsstelle about Ausfuhrkennzeichen, insurance and inspection requirements. The Berlin guide is a local reference; confirm with the authority handling your case. For truck transport, agree deregistration, loading and document handover with the seller and carrier.
Agree the delivery plan
Provide addresses, flexible dates, dimensions and ground clearance. Request condition photos at collection and delivery and keep the transport receipt. Confirm who receives the car and originals in Spain.
Prepare Spanish registration
Review technical documentation and the tax treatment of your purchase in advance. Plan the ITV, tax evidence and DGT application before using the car on Spanish registration. Follow the document checklist for your case.
