Open or enclosed: ask for the actual equipment

An open carrier leaves the car exposed to the outside. Enclosed transport adds a physical enclosure; insurance still needs checking. For a low sports car, share ground clearance, width and towing points before confirming loading.

What to send for a comparable quote

Collection and delivery postcodes, seller contact and actual truck access.
Make, model, dimensions, declared value, running condition and ground clearance.
Date flexibility, open/enclosed service and any crane or winch requirement.
Ask for the total price, VAT, surcharges, storage and cancellation terms in writing.
Request policy evidence, covered value, excess, exclusions and the damage procedure. Do not assume carrier liability covers the full vehicle value.
Agree photos, inventory, keys, original documents, a loading receipt and an authorised recipient.
