Driving roads near Marbella for sports-car owners

Mountain roads within easy reach of Marbella that suit an early-morning sports-car drive, and what to check before you go.

Updated: 23 October 2026

The mountains start almost at the coast

Part of what makes Marbella work for enthusiast owners is geography. The coast sits directly below the Serranía de Ronda, and several roads climb from the Costa del Sol into inland Andalucía.

Two roads worth knowing

The A-397 climbs from San Pedro de Alcántara to Ronda through a long series of bends with wide views over the coast. It is also popular with cyclists, so expect them on the climbs.

From Ronda, the A-369 heads south-west towards Gaucín through the villages of the Genal valley. It is narrower and slower, and rewards a relaxed pace.

Before you set off

Surface, visibility, traffic and weather matter more than pace. Early mornings are usually quieter, and mountain sections can be wet or covered in gravel after rain.

On Spanish conventional roads the general limit is 90 km/h unless signs show a lower one. These are public roads: CarLux Hub does not encourage competitive driving on them. Track days are the place for speed.
