Importing to Italy: what to confirm before buying
Italy is a destination as well as a supply market. Build the purchase and foreign-registration file first, then confirm the Italian technical inspection and registration steps for the province where the car will be registered. Do not treat a German or Dutch export workflow as an Italian registration file.
- Buyer identity plus an invoice or contract showing VIN, price and the tax status of the transaction.
- Original registration/export documents from the source country and the available technical file.
- A transport plan or temporary plates that are valid through every transit country; do not assume temporary plates are automatically recognised everywhere.
- Destination-country inspection, registration, insurance, tax and fee requirements before calculating landed cost.
- For trade purchases, confirm business VAT and resale treatment separately with a destination-country adviser.
Source markets you can compare
These links open current inventory by source country. They do not imply that a particular corridor is the cheapest or easiest.
We do not use one generic European tax rate
Registration, taxes and some inspections are national. This page therefore does not turn a price spread into a guaranteed margin for Italy. CarLux Hub will add destination-specific calculations only when that country model is verified and maintained.
